I think I might have a way to get cheaper front roller cages.  I see that John Deere's new HPX gator has the same front diff as polaris.  I looked up the parts the other day and the roller cage was way cheaper so was the armature plate.  I haven't ordered on yet to see if they are the same size.  We just got one of those Gators in the other day and I haven't had time to look at the front diff that clode.  The parts break down is identical.  I will get actual prices tomorrow,

What is the world coming to.  Never thought you would be able to get John Deere parts cheaper than Polaris parts.  My brother-in-law will love this.  He works for John Deere and rides Honda.  Wait till I tell him my Polaris is made from the same parts as the equipment he sells.

On the 'model' search I put in *gator*.

After some searching I found it under this model number:  9618 XUV Gator Utility Vehicle 620i (Gas) - 01Mar07

Click on: A04 - XUV Gator Utility Vehicle 620i (Gas)

Click on: Pictorial Index

Click on: 50 - A02 - C10 - POWER TRAIN

Click on:  2 - FRONT DRIVE

I guess you already beat me to the punch with prices.  The entire diff is $1850.00.  If you go to your dealer have them look up a XUV gator have the mtype in front differential and it is the highest serial number.  THe early serial number gators were a manual engagement.  I know for sure if I break my cage I am going to order one from Deere.

I have a question, how can the parts inside it be cheaper than the polaris parts, but the entire front gear case is about 3 times more money from john deere at $1850??????

Thats what I was thinking but I swear it sait $1800.  I don't know for sure if it is the same one.  My parts manager doesn't want to order one in then get stuck with it in stock so I will see if another dealer has one they can give me some measurments on.  How many rollers are in a Polaris cage?  Also how long and big in diameter is it?  If I can I will find out on Monday.

well i had trouble with my fron diff on my 03 sp 700. It would work when it wanted, on when the switch was off off when the switch was on etc. everyone knows the routine. I tore into expecting the worst but found that only an output seal had failed and the internals were veverly dirty. Besides a noisy bearing to replace i don't see any more damage. Cage looks good, rollers are a bit tarnished but i have an extra set. I followed the manual and checked my coil resistance. It was a bit out of spec, 26.8 ohms (range is 22.8-25.2 ohms). I'm thinking that the dirt was the problem and the coil is ok. Does anyone have an opinion on this. Do you guys think that i will have to replace the output cover also for just this little amount out of spec. And did anyone follow up on the John Deere Gator replacement parts. I looked it up and it looks identical. It sure would be nice to find some cheaper replacement OEM quality parts. Thanks in advance for any and all comments and opinions.
